How do you judge a book? I think about these things. Do I love it all the way through? Do the character's stay with me when I am not reading? Do I wonder what happens next? Does the book call to me?
Sometimes a book is not my preferred genre, yet the characters draw me on. Enders Game is one of those books. It's spends a lot of time in battles and military related life. I usually avoid books heavy on those topics. However early in the book, Ender became important to me. I trudged though military stuff to see how he would continue in the game.
Sometimes a book is only average as I am listening it, but as the conlcusion arrives, I find that I love the book. Ender's Game is this too. The conclusion is not what I expected and worth every minute I listened to the story.
In fact knowing Orson Scott Card wrote more about Ender makes me glad. I could explain why, but it would be filled with spoilers.
Ender's Game is an experience. I understand why it has won awards and why it is on recommended reading lists. I recommend it to those who enjoy science fiction, military fiction, or are just curious enough to want to know why I loved it more at the end.

Speculative Fiction Challenge 2010
This is my all-time favorite book. Speaker for the Dead (the next book in the series) is different, but just as good.
